The Best Exterior Paint Colours for Kelowna Homes in 2026
By Oak & Ivory Building Co. • August 18, 2026

Every year I get asked the same question as spring approaches: "What colour should I paint the outside of my house?" There is no single right answer—it depends on your roof, your architecture, and your neighbourhood—but there are colours that consistently perform beautifully on Okanagan homes, and colours that reliably disappoint. I am Danielle, a certified Kelowna interior designer, and these are the exterior shades I keep coming back to for 2026, from both Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams. A quick note first: always test any colour on your own home before committing, because our light changes everything.
Warm Whites and Creams
A warm white is the most requested exterior look right now, and for good reason—it feels fresh and timeless, and it flatters the natural wood and stone accents so common on Okanagan homes. The key is "warm"; a stark, cool white can look clinical under our bright sun.
- Benjamin Moore White Dove (OC-17). A soft, warm white that avoids looking sterile—arguably the most reliable exterior white there is.
- Sherwin-Williams Alabaster (SW 7008). A creamy, slightly warm white that reads clean without going cold. A perennial favourite for good reason.
Greiges and Soft Neutrals
Greige—the grey-beige hybrid—is the workhorse of exterior colour because it pairs with almost any roof and stone. In our strong light, lean slightly warmer than you think, because bright sun can pull cool greiges toward a flat grey.
- Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter (HC-172). A greige benchmark—warm enough to feel inviting, neutral enough to coordinate with nearly anything.
- Sherwin-Williams Accessible Beige (SW 7036). A grounded, warm greige that holds its character under bright light rather than washing out.
Deep and Dramatic
Dark exteriors continue to be popular, especially on modern and modern-farmhouse builds. They look striking against the Okanagan's bright sky and green hillsides—just know that very dark colours absorb heat, which is worth considering under our intense summer sun.
- Benjamin Moore Cheating Heart (2069-20). A rich near-black with depth that reads sophisticated rather than harsh.
- Sherwin-Williams Iron Ore (SW 7069). A soft black that has become the go-to for modern-farmhouse exteriors, and it wears beautifully.
Sage and Earthy Greens
Green is having a genuine moment, and it feels especially at home here—it echoes our sage hillsides and vineyard tones in a way that grounds a house in its landscape. This is my favourite "quietly current" choice for the Okanagan right now.
- Benjamin Moore October Mist (1495). A soft, silvery sage that reads as a sophisticated neutral outdoors.
- Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog (SW 9130). A muted grey-green that has been enormously popular and looks especially natural against Okanagan greenery.
The Colours to Approach With Caution
A few categories consistently cause regret on Okanagan exteriors: pure cool greys (they flatten and read cold under our light), trendy saturated blues (they can overpower a facade), and anything chosen without checking undertones against the roof. None of these are "banned"—but they need a careful eye and on-site testing.
Colours Are Only Half the Job
A great exterior is never one colour—it is a coordinated palette of body, trim, door, and roof working together. Picking a lovely body colour and stopping there is where most exteriors go wrong. If you would like that work done for you, my Okanagan exterior palettes pair every one of these directions into complete, coordinated schemes built for our light, delivered as instant PDF downloads. For a scheme built around your exact home, the custom colour service takes your photos and does it for you, and in-person colour consulting is there when you want a professional eye on the whole thing.
